Ultra Foundation Pro: A Beautiful Alternative to Airbrushing

The latest phenomenon for coverage that lasts all day has been airbrush makeup. While airbrush foundation does have great staying power, I find it to be more trouble than it’s worth. As a Makeup Artist I’m not ashamed to say that I HATE to airbrush! So much so that I often tell clients that my gun is broken just to get out of it. I find dissembling the gun and makeup clogging in the gun to be annoying – ain’t nobody got time for that (in my Sweet Brown voice).

During the last season of NYFW my partner, Dana Arcidy, and I needed to find a makeup sponsor for our team. After reaching out to several companies we were eventually sponsored by Debbie Bondar, the amazing CEO of FACE atelier. I had utilized their eyeshadows (they are SO pigmented) and lip fa├žade (a matte liquid lip/cheek color) but not their foundation. I’m usually a cream foundation user, so once I saw the Ultra Foundation Pro they gave us was in liquid form I was skeptical about its resilience. When I tested it out I was beyond excited because as far as I was concerned, I had finally found my alternative to airbrushing. The foundation was flawless and looked A-MAZ-ING! During our NYFW makeup run through I used the foundation on several models, and I have to say that I had never used a foundation (liquid or cream) that was so durable. Once the foundation dries it’s not going anywhere; I had to use makeup remover to get it off of my metal palette. An added bonus is that it looks just like skin. Ultra Foundation Pro is full coverage but can be sheered down when applying with either a damp wedge sponge or a Beauty Blender. Our team got lots of press from that show and the FACE atelier foundation photographed beautifully!

I used the foundation once again when I got booked to do an editorial with Grammy award winning singer Chrisette Michele. By this time I had become stingy about when I used my Ultra Foundation Pro because I wanted to conserve it as much as possible (sue me). After my initial consultation with Chrisette she said that she wanted an uber natural base so I knew that I had to break out the FACE atelier. After completing her face she was very pleased with the results.  I really didn't need to do any touch ups on her face because the foundation remained flawless for the entire shoot, all I had to do was give her an occasional hit of powder. The very next day I got an email from her saying that I mastered her natural look better than most have been able to, which touched my heart.

Ultra Foundation Pro comes in a huge variety of colors from fair to deep, and FACE atelier also offers color adjusters to customize your foundation. I use it on my brides, celebrities, and models. At $34 per bottle it’s a cheaper alternative to airbrushing with comparable results!
